Spring is the time of year when the Valley becomes a carpet of color as the fruits of fall and winter gardening mature to blossoming flowers and greenery. The Porterville Garden Club takes the opportunity to hold its annual home garden tour during this season to herald the joys of gardening. Proceeds from the garden tour benefit college scholarships and city beautification projects.The 12th annual Garden Tour will give the public a peek at the six home gardens of Art Knight and John Geiling on West Julianne Avenue, Cynthia Peeks on North York Street, Elizabeth Remigio on West Mulberry Avenue, Judy Holloway on North Matthew Street and Gabriel Vivergas on West Westfield Avenue on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.”The garden club discovered over the years that people enjoy and admire the large well-tailored gardens, but mainly they want to see what people have done within their small gardens, then go home and try to follow suit,” said Verna Crabtree, club president.
