These days, it takes a lot of compost and mulch to maintain all the beds and landscaping we’ve done. That’s where the neighbors come in. Our friend Berry cuts his grass on Wednesdays, so we’re always ready and waiting for his clippings. Then there’s our other friend, Chris. The other night, he delievered wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow of the green gold.
If you haven’t ever made compost, what are you waiting for? It’s a backyard science project that not only cuts down on the amount of trash you haul out the curb, but also gives you some great compost for the garden. In fact, you can get started today, by picking up a backyard composter being sold by Gaston County Solid Waste & Recycling, Keep Gastonia Beautiful and NC Cooperative Extension.
The sale takes place from 9 a.m.
